Cambridge Advance Online Takes Part in Integrated Systems Europe (ISE) 2025

Cambridge Advance Online participated as a speaker in the Integrated Systems Europe (ISE) conference, held in Barcelona from 4th to 7th February 2025.

Emily Patterson(Opens in a new window), Learning Designer at Cambridge Advance Online, part of Cambridge University Press & Assessment, delivered a keynote presentation titled "Human Skills for a Digital World: Creativity, Problem-Solving, and Design Thinking."

Integrated Systems Europe (ISE)(Opens in a new window) is the world's leading annual trade show for the audiovisual and systems integration industry, showcasing the latest technologies and providing networking opportunities for professionals across various sectors, including education.

Emily’s presentation explored the future of learning in an era increasingly dominated by algorithms and automation. She highlighted the importance of human ingenuity, creativity, and empathy in ensuring that investments in digital tools truly benefit learners.

With creativity and related skills consistently ranking among the most sought-after attributes in employees and leaders, Emily posed thought-provoking questions: Can creativity be taught? Does team diversity enhance creativity? In this interactive session, she also shared key takeaways for effective learning space design.

Emily Patterson is the lead learning designer for the course Creativity, Problem-Solving, and Design Thinking at Cambridge Advance Online, part of Cambridge University Press & Assessment. She developed this programme in collaboration with Nathan Crilly, Professor of Design in the Department of Engineering at the University of Cambridge, who teaches the course. The programme is designed for individuals looking to enhance their creative thinking and problem-solving skills, moving beyond learned behaviours to develop innovative and effective solutions.
